Dog Friendly Beaches near Exeter

Budleigh Salterton Beach sits just around the corner from Exmouth, a 2.5 mile stretch of pebble beach flanked by the Jurassic Coast’s unmistakable red sandstone cliffs. Seasonal restrictions apply on the main beach, but dogs are welcome on the sands near the Lime Kiln car park and at Steamer Steps.

Exmouth Beach stretches for two miles of golden sand at the mouth of the River Exe. Dogs are welcome at either end between May and October, and have the run of the whole stretch for the rest of the year.

For something a little different, the Exe Estuary Trail is well worth a morning or afternoon. Almost entirely traffic free and flat underfoot, the route wraps around the river from Exmouth through Topsham and Powderham before finishing at Dawlish Warren, where a sandy beach and nature reserve await.
